How to Visit or Join Our Troop

Visiting a troop is one of the best ways to find out about Boy Scouts.  We welcome prospective members to our meetings and outings.  We meet at  Somerset Presbyterian Church, 100 John F Kennedy Blvd., Somerset, NJ.  We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.  On some Tuesdays, we may be out at an other outdoor activity, so we recommend that you email or call ahead to check.

There is a lot of information about our troop on this website and in our Troop Guidelines.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Scoutmaster, Doug Hutt.

A boy does not have to have been a Cub Scout to become a Boy Scout.  Boy Scouts is a program for boys aged 11 through 17.  To join Boy Scouts, a boy must meet the follow age qualifications:

bullet Be at least 11 years old, or
bullet Have completed the 5th grade, or
bullet Have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts

A Scout must also understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath and Law.

Scouts also agree to obey the Outdoor Code

The Outdoor Code

As an American,
I will do my best to -
Be clean in my outdoor manners,
Be careful with fire,
Be considerate in the outdoors, and
Be conservation-minded.

Webelos scouts are welcome to visit our troop meetings, activities, and Courts of Honor throughout their final year.  As troop programs have different program emphases and styles, we encourage prospective members to visit a few of the troops in the area before making their final joining decision.
